Scents of Perfume Pagoda (Full day trip) Category: Short breaks
Destination: Vietnam, North
Depart: 8.00am
Return: 5.00pm
You will be met by our tour guide at 8.00am this morning for an amazing day journey to the stunning Perfume pagoda.
The Perfume Pagoda is situated 75 km south of Hanoi. This is the biggest pagoda complex, hosting the longest festival in Viet Nam from the first month to the third month of the lunar calendar. The marvelous scenery of mountains, streams, local farmland and the spectacular countryside is miraculous.
Our 2 hour journey through the picturesque countryside, takes us through local farming life and villages, providing us plenty of opportunities to stop and capture some spectacular photographs.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the amazing things the locals load onto their motorbikes!!
Arriving at Duc wharf, we board our row boat for an 1.5 hour journey along the perfume river, admiring the beautiful views, the sounds of wildlife that dwell within the mountainous forest terrain and peaceful ambience.
Upon arrival, we enjoy panoramic views across the lush green terrain with a beautiful trek to the peak of the mountain to visit Huong Tich Cave.
The cave is likened to the open mouth of a giant dragon, and the stalactites and stalagmites inside, lead many to believe they are in a miniature pavilion.
Above the entrance to the cave is where the 18th-century poet and warlord Trinh Sam inscribed the words Nam thien de nhat dong, or "the most beautiful cave under the southern sky".
The large stalagmite in the middle of the cave is kept continuously wet by a trickle of water from the ceiling, and has long been thought to bring fertility to childless couples.
Women will rub their hands on the stalagmite in the hope of conceiving a child in the New Year, and the fact that many couples have been blessed with a bundle of joy after visiting Huong Pagoda has added to the area’s mythology.
We head down for lunch at a restaurant below, before visiting the famous Thien Tru Pagoda or ‘Heaven Kitchen Pagoda’ to learn of The Ancient Architecture and the Buddhism.
We return by row boat and transfer to our vehicle for our return to Hanoi.
Trip ends.
Price for the trip: 52 USD per person (minimum 2 persons)
